AQUARIUM

A tank you fill yourself, alive on your panel

Start with an empty tank. Draw fish on your phone and watch them drop in with a splash, then add sand, plants, a castle, snails and shrimp. They swim about live on the panel, and they need you: feed them, clean up after them, and keep the tank interesting.

What it does

Everything on one panel.

01

Start with an empty tank

Black water and nothing else: the rest is up to you. Draw a fish with your finger, give it a name and it drops in with a splash, or pick one of ours.

02

Make it yours

Lay a floor of sand, gravel or pebbles, in the colours you like, and place plants that sway, air stones, a castle, a shipwreck, a chest that opens and bubbles, or an ornament you drew yourself. Tap a little picture of the tank to put them where you want them, and they appear on the panel. Fish swim in front of them and hide behind them.

03

Snails and shrimp

Add tiny snails that crawl up the glass eating the algae, and little red shrimp that pick at the floor, climb the plants and shoot off backwards when anything comes near.

04

Alive, not a loop

Every fish swims for itself, with its own speed and character: some dart, some drift, some nibble along the bottom. They turn, wag their tails and blow bubbles, and show a little icon when they want something.

05

Feed them from your phone

Tap Feed and food sinks through the water while the fish race for it. Tap the glass and they scatter. Press Show names and every fish carries its name around for half a minute.

06

They need you

Each fish has hunger, happiness, health and boredom, and a page on your phone shows how it's doing. Hungry ones beg at the top of the tank, sad ones sulk on the bottom and happy ones do flips. A tank that's left goes green, what goes in comes out, and you run the vacuum along the floor with your finger. Bored fish want a change of scene.

07

Nothing is ever lost

Forget them for a few days and a fish gets poorly, then goes to rest on the sand. A dose of Medicine brings it round, hungry and glad to see you.

08

Looked after, even when it's off

Your fish live on pxlp.nl, so their stats are there wherever you are, and hunger carries on with the panel switched off.

09

A quiet tank by night

Left alone, the tank turns itself down low and goes quiet. Prefer a clock? Choose it instead. It dims and sleeps on your schedule.
